Have u ever wondered on the beginnings of a mental illness / mental health concern?
They have humble beginnings. just like any other illness, Lets compare it to a virus just for the sake of better understanding, it starts out small (a single-celled organism), grows on us, and then ultimately the body sends out signals, called symptoms. These signals are warnings, send out to us, so that we pay heed and take due action, so that the illness doesn’t progress.
This follows logically with a consult with our family doctor say as soon as our temperature rises despite the fact that this symptom may be a sign of a variety of illnesses that range from slight fever to viral fever, to food poisoning, a wide range of infections, some of which may be deadly even. We don’t wait to think that ‘after all, this may be nothing.’ ( maybe some do, but this waiting period is constrained to a few days at the max.) Also if you happened to get diagnosed with cancer, would your first thought be ‘What would others think?, I rather not see the doctor and die.’ Or would it be “I got this illness cause I’m weak, useless and good for nothing.”
Sounds really absurd right??
If this is exactly how a mental illness develops, would you consult your family doctor, say if you symptom has been sleeplessness for a week? Or would you wait? For how long then? What would your first thoughts be?
Consider watching these takes on mental health. and continue reading the article.

If you saw all the above mentioned videos, it’s very clear mental health has been misunderstood for ages. It isn’t necessarily a curse, or a thing to be ashamed of, people doesn’t necessarily have to be ‘mad’ to see a psychologist.
long b4 people considered the world was flat, it was always round, similarly mental illness isn’t bad, its treatable, manageable, sometimes has better rates of improvement in comparison to a physical illness. but unfortunately people due to illogical fear, abstain from seeing a professional, receive treatment, wait till things are out of hand, and then finally come to us. By this time, things may be out of our hands as well, there is no use blaming this field as sham, or just ‘talk’ therapy. It’s obvious that if u go to any doctor in the last stages of cancer or any disease actually, they would say – ‘I’m sorry, we can make things a little easier, but death/ some loss is inevitable’. and you would understand. it’s the same with Mental health as well.
I’m sure all of you have had a cold at some point in your life.. , did it make you any less perfect , we call depression the common cold of mental illness, however if you had it, you perceive yourself to be not so perfect.. why ?
“I think, therefore I am”,
(or for your better understanding “I am thinking, therefore I exist”) is a famous philosophical proposition by René Descartes.
I have a second proposition to add “If I exist, i’m vulnerable.”
If this sounds crazy, please consider Rene may have been considered crazy when he first made his proposition. Jokes aside, Think this over.
The world exists, it’s vulnerable to the wear and tear that comes with time (and our contributions makes it pretty fast). Our bodies exist, its vulnerable to diseases, and death. Our minds exist, therefore we all are (diagnosed and otherwise) susceptible to the problems of the mind..
But all this vulnerability comes with growth, renewal, hope as well.
Thus both mind or body are equally susceptible to problems, that’s the law of nature,
but we perceive the mind to be under the purview of our direct control, which is why we feel weak, good for nothing it we have a mental health problem,
but not so much if we have a physical illness, actually we can control our bodies as well, but we are kinder to it.
Our minds deserve our kindness as well, since in actuality it’s a tough nut to crack.
Over the ages, and countless research, we have solutions, treatments now, that ensure a quality life.. These are not false statements but proven facts.. but only possible if the person takes one step closer to taking care of themselves.
So are you kind to yourself (your minds) today? If not, it’s about time, cause you are worthy.
